No. Submission of entries is free of charge. However, any expenses incurred in the submission of works to the competition (e.g. delivery cost to the Festival Office) must be covered by the entrant.
I am not sure in which division my work fits. How should I decide?
You can base your decision on the categories and the jury members listed for each division. While there are no restrictions on the number of works that can be entered, each work can only be submitted once and to a single division. Please make sure to check our application guidelines and the eligible categories in each division and choose one division, otherwise the work may not be considered.

The guidelines say that eligible works must be completed or publicly exhibited between Saturday, October 6, 2018 and Friday, October 4, 2019. Can I submit works created before this period?
We limit works to those completed or released within a year before the festival. However, if a work was completed before this period but updated or exhibited during this period, it will be accepted. Uncompleted works or unpublished prototypes are not eligible.
Can I register as a group?
a) If there are five or less members in the group, enter the names of the individual members.
b) If the group is larger, enter the name of the group and the name of the member who represents the group.

I would like to submit a high-resolution video work. How should I submit it?
All works will be reviewed based on submitted images, written information and/or reference materials. Please ensure the quality that accurately represents the work and decide the submission method. Be aware that our server has restriction of the size of data that can be uploaded.
Is it possible to submit 3D video works?
Yes. Please send by post two copies of your work on separate removable media (CD-ROM, Blu-ray disc, etc.). We may later ask you to send additional materials related to your work. Please keep in mind that submitted materials are generally not returned.
Can I submit works which use virtual reality systems?
Yes. To review the work, we may need to borrow your VR viewing system. Please contact us for further information.
When I submit a video or animated film, should I also send a digest movie?
If your video runs over 30 minutes, we ask you to also send a three-minute digest movie. Please send two copies of your work on separate removable media, each including both the full version and the three-minute version.
How can I apply for the Social Impact Award and U-18 award?
Both awards will go through the same selection procedure with Grand Prize, Excellence Award, New Face Award. You don’t need to apply specifically for those awards.

I made a mistake and want to change the information I registered. How can I do this?
Within 24 hours of registration, you can log in to your account and change your information directly. However, no changes can be made after 18:00 on Friday, October 4, 2019 (Japan Standard Time). If more than 24 hours have passed, you can choose from the following:
a. Minor changes: Contact us by email specifying which information you want to change
b. Major changes: Create a new account, and notify us via email so we can delete your previous account (email@example.com).
If “group” is selected for “Artist information,” how many group members can I register?
A maximum of five can be registered.
Can I change the division I entered my work in?
Please re-submit your work and contact us by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) so that we can delete your previous entry.
I created an entrant account but have not received an email confirming my registration. What should I do?
Please contact us by email (email@example.com). We will check your registration and activate your account.
Uploading of my work is interrupted.
Check your internet connection, and retry the upload. Please note that browsers such as Safari or Chrome may work better than Internet Explorer.
FAQ - Art Division
How can I submit a series of photographs or other graphic art works?
You can enter them one by one, but submitting them together as a series is recommended.
Choose a title for your series and send all the images together as a zip or PDF file. If each work has an individual title, send us a text document with a list of the titles.
I will submit a 90 minute archive film of a media performance work. Should I submit a digest movie?
We ask all entrants to send a three-minute digest video if their work is longer than 30 minutes.
FAQ - Entertainment Division
I am submitting online games or smartphone applications that charge you. How should I submit the work?
Please provide us with any necessary passwords and instructions to play the game/app free of charge.
Is it possible to enter smartphone applications not released to the public?
Yes. We can accept the entry but we may ask for a phone with the application installed for reviewing purposes. Please contact us by email for further information (firstname.lastname@example.org).
FAQ - Manga Division
Is it possible to enter ongoing manga projects?
Yes. A work that is serialized or ongoing will be reviewed based on the work and/or reference materials available at the time of submission. If the work should continue after the application deadline (October 5, 2018), you can submit the work again to next year’s festival.
Is it possible to enter an entire magazine including several manga as one work?
No. Each work should be entered separately.
My manga is included in a compilation of works. Can I enter my work alone?
Yes. Please specify the title of your work when registering.
Can I submit works which can be read using paid apps?
Yes. Either instruct us how to read the work free of charge, or send a PDF version of the work.
