Kinedioscope – Muir Woods

Media installation

Paul FERRAGUT [France]

Outline

In this project, a kinedioscope – a technique originally invented by the author to create animated depth effects on static photographs – is used to translate the eerie beauty of the woods. This work uses information such as camera locations – obtained through photogrammetry (computing a 3D model based on multiple photographs) – to perfectly align the photography with the perspective of the 3D model. Once the views match, it is possible to create unique effects.
